Wayne Gretzky, Jaromir Jagr, Mario Lemieux, Brett Hull and Sergei Fedorov are among the many famous players to sign a highly-prized Eastern Conference jersey from the 1996 NHL All-Star Game, which Muzeum has on display in our Toronto outlet.
In the video below, you can learn more about the jersey courtesy Daniel Ilmer, vice-president, operations for Muzeum. This one is for all you hockey fans!
The jersey is valued between $10,000 and $15,000 CAN.
The 46th NHL All-Star Game took place in Boston and featured many hallmark names in hockey, from Gretzky to Lemieux to Paul Coffey to Brendan Shanahan. The only player from '96 still playing today is Jagr.
As for the actual game, Boston Bruins' defensemen Ray Bourque notched a goal with just 37.3 seconds remaining in regulation to give the Eastern Conference a 5–4 victory. For his heroics, the 17-year veteran was named All-Star M.V.P.
Many Hall of Famers grace this prized jersey, such as Stanley Cup winner Gretzky and six-time Stanley Cup champion Mark Messier. Several goalies also signed the jersey, such as Chris Osgood and Ed Belfour.
