GENEVA -- A 17.07-carat pink diamond sold for a hammer price of 18.3 million Swiss francs ($18.3 million) at a Geneva jewelry auction Wednesday, cruising past both its pre-sale estimate and the winning bid for the "Sky Blue" diamond billed as the event's standout piece. A large painting from one of Willem de Kooning's most productive periods sold for $66.3 million at Christie's auction of contemporary art. Untitled XXV set a new auction record for a work by the abstract expressionist artist at its sale Tuesday evening in New York. When the painting was auctioned in 2006, it sold for $27.1 million, then a record for any work of post-war and contemporary art. This cheeky chancer is selling four of the coveted new £5 notes, which all have AK47 serial numbers, for a hefty £1million on eBay. After the success of Twickenham’s Gareth Wright, who flogged one AK47 fiver for £80,000 earlier this week, the seller is hoping £30 in notes could make them a millionaire.
